5 GROUPS

Forward GroupDiver faces towards the water
rotating in a forward motion
Backward GroupThe diver stands at the end of the board
facing away from the water
rotating backwards
Reverse GroupDiver faces forward and rotates backward towards the board
Formerly known as "gainers"
Inward GroupThe diver faces away from the water
rotaing towards the board
Twisting GroupThis is the largest group because...
it is any of the above categories that includes at least 1/2 twist

4 POSITIONS

Type of Dive Body Position
TuckBent at the waist and knees
Thighs drawn to chest
Heels held together and close to the body
PikeLegs are straight with body bent at waist
Arm position depends on the dive being done
StraightThis dive requires NO BEND at the waist or knees
Your back may arch depending on the dive
FreeOption of the three mentioned above or any combnination
when the dive involves a somersault or twist
